'Astronomical' , by Tim James Title: Astronomical Author: Tim James Genre (s): Nonfiction, Science, Astronomy Language: English Publisher:  Simon & Schuster Publication Date: 9th November 2021 Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Link to buy it!  Thank you to Edelweiss and Simon & Schuster for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.  Astronomical by Tim James is a nonfiction book of astronomy , the science of stars. The book talks about many topics related to, evidently, stars (life and death), black holes , solar systems and what kind of solar systems we can find in space, galaxies (it talks of course about our own galaxy: the Milky Way), etc. It talks about many things related to the science of the cosmos. I have found it a very good reading for me, as I am a lover of this science and I do enjoy reading and learning more about it. It is written in a funny, but scientific and formal way that makes it so easy to read it. It makes funny references to Pirates of the Caribbean...

Thank you to the publisher Annick Press and Edelweiss for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.  Living with Viola is a middle grade story about Livy , and how she feels about the world and everything that surrounds her, how anxiety and fear doesn't seem to let her go. It's a story about mental health in teenagers, how many factors can affect them.  It's a graphic novel that explores feelings and negative thoughts. There are two topics that I find them of more importance: racism and anxiety and panic attacks . I won't talk about these topics here because it will be spoilers from the book and I don't want to ruin the experience of reading such great work.  Regarding the illustrations , they are beautiful and full of co...

'LOVE SCENES' , by Bridget Morrissey  Title: Love Sscenes Author: Bridget Morrissey Genre (s): Contemporary, Romance, Adult, Fiction Publisher: Berkley (Penguin Publishing Group)  Language: English Publication Date: 22nd June 2021 Thank you to the author, Berkley ( Penguin Publishing Group ) and Edelweiss for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. A romantic comedy about two people who fall in love on a film set.  Two people that, apparently, hate each other. Sloane is having a bad time, and the least she wants is to work along with her enemy, Joseph Donovan , the actor she had a terrible time while shooting a film a few years ago. I absolutely loved this book . I have so many things to say about it! Although I'll probably end up saying too little (I'm sorry for that). Love Scenes is not just a love story. It's more than that. It's about self-love , alcoholism, relationships, toxic relationships, friendship, family ,... It talks about many topics —...

I loved them!  In this book, we get to know more about Michelle Obama's life: how she became one of the most influential public figures around the world.  We get to know about how she became a lawyer, how she met her husband, Barack Obama, and how she supported Obama's campaign to become President of the...

'Ruth Bader Ginsburg', by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vergara

Imagen
' Ruth Bader Ginsburg ', by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vergara Thank you to the author, Frances Lincoln Children's Books and Edelweiss for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.  In this new installment of Maria Isabel Sanchez Vergara's Little People, Big Dreams book Series, the author explores the life of the judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1933-2020). It is a beautiful, inspiring human story about a girl, a woman, who believed in herself , who never gave up. It is lovely, and it is so beautifully written, with illustrations. Ruth became one of the symbols for female lawyers. She fought for women's rights , for equality of gender. She spent all of her life fighting for it. She wanted to become the person her mother believed she could be. Her mother died before she graduated from high school.  Ruth and Martin's story is so sweet- how Martin cared for her, how he admired her and saw her as his equal. She became the leader of a feminist law group, and worked to e...

Imagen
'Lights Day and Night: The Science of How Light Works' , by Susan Hughes & Ellen Rooney Thank you to the authors, Kids Can Press and Edelweiss for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. A funny, graphic and easy way for children to learn more about how light works. It talks how light travels from our star —the Sun — to us, and it gives glimpses of the rest of the stars out there in space, far away from us. It also explains some concepts in a easy way for kids : types of lights that exist, how the water cycle works —in a simple and illustrative way—, and how sunlight is so important to us, Earth and its children. It gives visual examples with beautiful details. It comments interesting facts for kids. At the last pages, we found a game/exercise for them. It is a detail that makes the book even better for them to digest if they're not into reading. Also, there is a glossary full of terms at the end. It helps them, and also makes them more curious about the top...

"Murmurations", by Blake Auden

Imagen
“ Murmurations ”, by Blake Auden First, I want to say thank you to the author,  the editorial and Edelweiss for accepting my request to read the book in exchange for an honest review.  I don't even know how to say this. I don't think I am capable of writing everything that's up on my mind about this book right now.  Murmuration is one of the best poetry books I have ever read. It's so emotional, and its poems are so deep and so beautifully written. I wish I'd be able to write such beautiful poetry.  This book talks about loss, grief, heartbreak, sadness, and love.  “𝒊 𝒂𝒎 𝒑𝒖𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒅, 𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒍𝒍, 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒔𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒉.” The author takes the grief and the loss of someone you once loved/still love and transforms it into something that breaks your heart when you read it.  It's a book about past...
