Thank you to the author, Berkley (Penguin Publishing Group) and Edelweiss for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A romantic comedy about two people who fall in love on a film set.
Two people that, apparently, hate each other. Sloane is having a bad time, and the least she wants is to work along with her enemy, Joseph Donovan, the actor she had a terrible time while shooting a film a few years ago.
I absolutely loved this book. I have so many things to say about it! Although I'll probably end up saying too little (I'm sorry for that).
Love Scenes is not just a love story. It's more than that. It's about self-love, alcoholism, relationships, toxic relationships, friendship, family,... It talks about many topics— that's why I loved this book so much: how the author wrote so well about every topic and how they made you feel.
I've felt a lot with this book. There are books that touch your soul and heart, and there are the ones that don't. In this case, this is one of the first books. It touched my heart how Sloane is, how a wild, complicated world she has inside her, how she is so strong.
Maybe this will sound so cliche but the characters I loved most were Joseph Donovan and Sloane. Joseph, with his inner struggles; Sloane, trying to stay afloat, fighting with her own self. It's so interesting and fascinating the way the author describes Sloane's emotions.
The story is told fluently, and with beautiful words and scenes.
I can't say a thing I didn't like about the book. I loved it all!
Love Scenes takes place mostly on set, filming the movie.
In a world of cameras and fake smiles and feelings, can true love pop up between lines?
It's a must-read, a highly recommended one!
I've enjoyed everything about it!
This book has LGTBQ+ representation, and shows some sides of society with such short lines or scenes I can't help but admire the author for that. It also shows why and how a person can have many insecurities.
As I've said before, the story builds it up by itself. The scenes are told so fluently with no forced pre-scenes or unnecessary talk.
This book is a mix of funny, dramatic, and romantic scenes so well interwoven together!
Again, I highly recommend you to read this book. What are you waiting for?
Love Scenes comes out on 22nd June 2021, so stay tuned!
