'Great Expectations: The Manga' by Manga Classics - Book Review

Thank you to the publisher Udon Entertainment and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'm a fan of Manga Classics and its adaptations, I always love them! This one is the manga adaptation of the classic Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. It follows young Pip into adulthood and the choices he makes for the great expectations he expects for his future as a future gentleman with great wealth. He deserts his family and friends and is humbled by his own arrogance and attitude towards people that he was once in their shoes. He despises the future that awaits him: keep being a blacksmith like his friend Joe, his sister's husband.

One day, he is summoned by Miss Havisham in her great mansion. There, she'll meet the icy and cold Estella, the adopted daughter of Miss Havisham. The book presents a myriad of different archetypes of characters and personalities. The warmth and friendliness of Herbert and Joe, the coldness of Estella, the arrogance of Pip, the mysterious and terrifying Magwitch,... are encapsulated in this volume.

What I found stunning is the artwork, that is lovely and beautiful as always. Apart from the story, that holds a good pace to read.

Not only are these editions and adaptations beautiful but it may also help to attract younger audiences to reading more classics. Personally speaking, I've read a few Manga Classics volumes about books I read and others that I have still pending to read but intend on doing so. In this case, I'd love to read Great Expectations as a whole.
